Adventure Time: Did Not Actually Make It Home

I had planned on being at home this morning but they didn’t really work out. After spending over three hours on the runway at Sapporo waiting for a clearing in the weather we were not able to make the connecting flight home from Seoul. We ended up missing our flight be less than an hour which was a little painful. They put us up at the Hyatt overnight, with it being located 3mins away from the airport. The Hyatt was in the middle of know where with not a lot on offer. I’m back at the airport now waiting for the same flight as yesterday just a day late.

Adventure Time: Sapporo Airport

I’m flying home today, the first leg is Sapporo to Seoul before a connecting flight to Brisbane. We have the side seats once again on both legs. Purchasing some Porter gear duty free was tempting but the backpack selection was limited and I didn’t want any kind of man bag small or large. The internet isn’t quite up to it at the airport will have to wait until Seoul for photos.

Even had the best seat economy has to offer, would have settled with the worse seat though not to miss my flight though.

Adventure Time: Sapporo in Sapporo

Fly home tomorrow, so might not see proper size Sapporo cans for a while.

Adventure Time: Lotteria

We went right out of our way for this one, not really it was about 100m away from the hotel entrance. Figured I shouldn’t leave the country without checking out one of their fast-food establishments. It was alright, no photos of the event because I was being a nice guy and respecting the no photo deal.

Adventure Time: Lunch

After failing to locate a certain place to get Okonomiyaki. I did some more extensive research, drew a map and wrote down directions. I came to the conclusion that the place simply doesn’t exist anymore and Okonomiyaki isn’t super common in Sapporo. Also tried again to find the ever so allusive purple label North Face backpack but still no backpacks to be had. Saw a girl walking around with the actual bad I wanted as well. We had curry for lunch and to say the serve was generous was an understatement. Dad opted to get a few semi friend eggs on his which was apparently key to its success. Checked out their University, lucky I already have my piece of paper. Didn’t get directionally challenge on the walk home either, that was pretty cool.

On a side note I burnt the roof of my mouth. Curry never really presents well either but here are some photos regardless.

Adventure Time: Snacks

The department store was still open on our return from dinner, enabling me to pick up these. I can’t tell you their correct name but they are awesome. Red bean or custard fills some form of pancake like mixture housing, they are served warm.

Adventure Time: Ramen Alley Again

Why not go to Ramen Alley two nights in a row. It is the logical choice really. We went to the place that was packed out last night, it was ok but wasn’t on the same level as the other place. The gritty little kitchens are always interesting to look at.

Adventure Time: Sapporo Sunshine

Today was just spent walking around the city with no real agenda, except to look at a few stores and eat. On checking the weather in the morning a figure of -17 was displayed on the screen which I wasn’t too happy about. By the time we got ready and left it had warmed up to a more acceptable -6, the temperature remained in the negatives throughout the day. I haven’t seen the sun in its prime for a few days little alone blue skies so the photos reflect that.

The shops are big and their are a lot of them but most things you can get at home for a similar price, predominately less. Checked out a few electronics stores, their layouts are confusing. Finally was able to pick up a new camera strap as well, which should make carrying my camera around my neck a little less of an ordeal. They had a few camera that made you look twice mainly Leica’s and Mamiya’s. I was only chasing one thing during my stay and that was a purple label North Face backpack but they are sold out all over the country apparently, at North Face stores anyway.

Adventure Time: Lunch

Didn’t really take any decent photos from lunch today, there was a few details I would have liked to capture. The meal was pretty typical from what I had thought. The only thing out of the ordinary were small clams in the miso soup. Plus they had some form of oil/dressing that I put on my rice, which was awesome.

Adventure Time: Mister Donut

Mister Donut is just a chain store but it is still pretty cool. Picked up a few donuts on the way back, they are unlike any donut I have eaten before and I can’t really explain why either. With Snoopy also covering the current packaging you can’t really go wrong. There was a couple more donuts in the bag before the photo.
